Student Wellbeing
A fundamental belief for Catholic schools is that in Jesus is seen God's image and likeness in its human expression, and that Jesus' values and teachings show all people 'the way the truth and the life'(John 14.6). In accordance with this belief, values to be promoted within a Catholic school's understanding and practice of pastoral care include love, respect, compassion, tolerance, forgiveness, repentance, reconciliation and justice.

Cybersafety
St. John Vianney’s School is part of the Alanah and Madeline Foundation which is a national charity that protects children from violence. One of their programs that we have implemented is the eSmart Schools which is the world leading system designed to help schools manage cybersafety and deal with cyberbullying and bullying.
Student Leadership
Student leadership provides an opportunity for students to actively participate in the decision-making processes at our school. At St. John Vianney’s students are encouraged to take on leadership roles in an endeavour to increase their own leadership skills and to act as effective role models for the student body. Our school believes encouraging student leadership ensures we are developing our community leaders of the future.
Restorative Practices
Schools are places of learning and fun. To ensure that the school is able to meet both the learning and social and emotional needs of the students it is vital that students are able to learn in a safe environment. It is also crucial that the work place for all staff is safe. Within this context as a Catholic school the schools mission is for students and staff to treat other people as they would like to be treated themselves. At St John Vianney’s, we follow a restorative practices model. Restorative practices are a whole school approach to promoting resilience and aims to contribute to the building of positive relationships in school communities. It is focussed on helping young people become aware of the impact of their behaviour on others through personal accountability and learning from a conflict situation. An important component of restorative practices is the focus on restoring relationships after harm has been done.
